The 69-year-old suspected drunken driver accused of running over two bicyclists earlier this month, killing one and critically injuring the other, has been admitted to a mental health facility, authorities said.
Larry Scoufos, chief district attorney for the county, said that Harvey Hereford of Santa Rosa was at the Norton Center and that his scheduled arraignment next Monday might be postponed.
No details were available about why Hereford checked into Norton Center.
Hereford, freed last week after posting $60,000 bail, is suspected of killing Alan Liu, 31, of Mountain View and critically injuring Jill Mason, 26, of Cupertino. Hereford was booked April 11 on suspicion of felony drunken driving and vehicular manslaughter.
